2 وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

waalnnahaari idzaa tajallaa

dan siang apabila terang benderang,

And [by] the day when it appears

3 وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ

wamaa khalaqa aldzdzakara waal-untsaa

dan penciptaan laki-laki dan perempuan,

And [by] He who created the male and female,

4 إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ

inna sa'yakum lasyattaa

sesungguhnya usaha kamu memang berbeda-beda.

Indeed, your efforts are diverse.

5 فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ

fa-ammaa man a'thaa waittaqaa

Adapun orang yang memberikan (hartanya di jalan Allah) dan bertakwa,

As for he who gives and fears Allah

6 وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلْحُسْنَىٰ

washaddaqa bialhusnaa

dan membenarkan adanya pahala yang terbaik (surga),

And believes in the best [reward],

7 فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

fasanuyassiruhu lilyusraa

maka Kami kelak akan menyiapkan baginya jalan yang mudah.

We will ease him toward ease.

8 وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسْتَغْنَىٰ

wa-ammaa man bakhila waistaghnaa

Dan adapun orang-orang yang bakhil dan merasa dirinya cukup,

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

10 فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ

fasanuyassiruhu lil'usraa

maka kelak Kami akan menyiapkan baginya (jalan) yang sukar.

We will ease him toward difficulty.

11 وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ

wamaa yughnii 'anhu maaluhu idzaa taraddaa

Dan hartanya tidak bermanfaat baginya apabila ia telah binasa.

And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?

12 إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ

inna 'alaynaa lalhudaa

Sesungguhnya kewajiban Kamilah memberi petunjuk,

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.

13 وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْءَاخِرَةَ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ

wa-inna lanaa lal-aakhirata waal-uulaa

dan sesungguhnya kepunyaan Kamilah akhirat dan dunia.

And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

14 فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ

fa-andzartukum naaran talazhzhaa

Maka, kami memperingatkan kamu dengan neraka yang menyala-nyala.

So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.

15 لَا يَصْلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلْأَشْقَى

laa yashlaahaa illaa al-asyqaa

Tidak ada yang masuk ke dalamnya kecuali orang yang paling celaka,

None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.

16 ٱلَّذِى كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

alladzii kadzdzaba watawallaa

yang mendustakan (kebenaran) dan berpaling (dari iman).

Who had denied and turned away.

17 وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَتْقَى

wasayujannabuhaa al-atqaa

Dan kelak akan dijauhkan orang yang paling takwa dari neraka itu,

But the righteous one will avoid it -

18 ٱلَّذِى يُؤْتِى مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

alladzii yu/tii maalahu yatazakkaa

yang menafkahkan hartanya (di jalan Allah) untuk membersihkannya,

[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

19 وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰٓ

wamaa li-ahadin 'indahu min ni'matin tujzaa

padahal tidak ada seseorangpun memberikan suatu nikmat kepadanya yang harus dibalasnya,

And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

20 إِلَّا ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

illaa ibtighaa-a wajhi rabbihi al-a'laa

tetapi (dia memberikan itu semata-mata) karena mencari keridhaan Tuhannya yang Maha Tinggi.

But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.
