2 وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا

waalqamari idzaa talaahaa

dan bulan apabila mengiringinya,

And [by] the moon when it follows it

3 وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا

waalnnahaari idzaa jallaahaa

dan siang apabila menampakkannya,

And [by] the day when it displays it

4 وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰهَا

waallayli idzaa yaghsyaahaa

dan malam apabila menutupinya,

And [by] the night when it covers it

5 وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا

waalssamaa-i wamaa banaahaa

dan langit serta pembinaannya,

And [by] the sky and He who constructed it

6 وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا

waal-ardhi wamaa thahaahaa

dan bumi serta penghamparannya,

And [by] the earth and He who spread it

7 وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا

wanafsin wamaa sawwaahaa

dan jiwa serta penyempurnaannya (ciptaannya),

And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it

8 فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَىٰهَا

fa-alhamahaa fujuurahaa wataqwaahaa

maka Allah mengilhamkan kepada jiwa itu (jalan) kefasikan dan ketakwaannya.

And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,

9 قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا

qad aflaha man zakkaahaa

sesungguhnya beruntunglah orang yang mensucikan jiwa itu,

He has succeeded who purifies it,

10 وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا

waqad khaaba man dassaahaa

dan sesungguhnya merugilah orang yang mengotorinya.

And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].

11 كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ

kadzdzabat tsamuudu bithaghwaahaa

(Kaum) Tsamud telah mendustakan (rasulnya) karena mereka melampaui batas,

Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,

12 إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَىٰهَا

idzi inba'atsa asyqaahaa

ketika bangkit orang yang paling celaka di antara mereka,

When the most wretched of them was sent forth.

13 فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَٰهَا

faqaala lahum rasuulu allaahi naaqata allaahi wasuqyaahaa

lalu Rasul Allah (Saleh) berkata kepada mereka: ("Biarkanlah) unta betina Allah dan minumannya".

And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink."

14 فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا

fakadzdzabuuhu fa'aqaruuhaa fadamdama 'alayhim rabbuhum bidzanbihim fasawwaahaa

Lalu mereka mendustakannya dan menyembelih unta itu, maka Tuhan mereka membinasakan mereka disebabkan dosa mereka, lalu Allah menyama-ratakan mereka (dengan tanah),

But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].

15 وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَٰهَا

walaa yakhaafu 'uqbaahaa

dan Allah tidak takut terhadap akibat tindakan-Nya itu.

And He does not fear the consequence thereof.
