2 وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

wa-adzinat lirabbihaa wahuqqath

dan patuh kepada Tuhannya, dan sudah semestinya langit itu patuh,

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]

4 وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ

wa-alqat maa fiihaa watakhallath

dan dilemparkan apa yang ada di dalamnya dan menjadi kosong,

And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it]

5 وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

wa-adzinat lirabbihaa wahuqqath

dan patuh kepada Tuhannya, dan sudah semestinya bumi itu patuh, (pada waktu itu manusia akan mengetahui akibat perbuatannya).

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] -

6 يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ

yaa ayyuhaa al-insaanu innaka kaadihun ilaa rabbika kadhan famulaaqiihi

Hai manusia, sesungguhnya kamu telah bekerja dengan sungguh-sungguh menuju Tuhanmu, maka pasti kamu akan menemui-Nya.

O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.

7 فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ

fa-amaa man uutiya kitaabahu biyamiinihi

Adapun orang yang diberikan kitabnya dari sebelah kanannya,

Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand,

8 فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا

fasawfa yuhaasabu hisaaban yasiiraan

maka dia akan diperiksa dengan pemeriksaan yang mudah,

He will be judged with an easy account

9 وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا

wayanqalibu ilaa ahlihi masruuraan

dan dia akan kembali kepada kaumnya (yang sama-sama beriman) dengan gembira.

And return to his people in happiness.

10 وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ

wa-ammaa man uutiya kitaabahu waraa-a zhahrihi

Adapun orang-orang yang diberikan kitabnya dari belakang,

But as for he who is given his record behind his back,

11 فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا

fasawfa yad'uu tsubuuraan

maka dia akan berteriak: "Celakalah aku".

He will cry out for destruction

12 وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا

wayashlaa sa'iiraan

Dan dia akan masuk ke dalam api yang menyala-nyala (neraka).

And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.

13 إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا

innahu kaana fii ahlihi masruuraan

Sesungguhnya dia dahulu (di dunia) bergembira di kalangan kaumnya (yang sama-sama kafir).

Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;

14 إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ

innahu zhanna an lan yahuura

Sesungguhnya dia menyangka bahwa dia sekali-kali tidak akan kembali (kepada Tuhannya).

Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah].

15 بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا

balaa inna rabbahu kaana bihi bashiiraan

(Bukan demikian), yang benar, sesungguhnya Tuhannya selalu melihatnya.

But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing.

16 فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ

falaa uqsimu bialsysyafaqi

Maka sesungguhnya Aku bersumpah dengan cahaya merah di waktu senja,

So I swear by the twilight glow

17 وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ

waallayli wamaa wasaqa

dan dengan malam dan apa yang diselubunginya,

And [by] the night and what it envelops

18 وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ

waalqamari idzaa ittasaqa

dan dengan bulan apabila jadi purnama,

And [by] the moon when it becomes full

19 لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ

latarkabunna thabaqan 'an thabaqin

sesungguhnya kamu melalui tingkat demi tingkat (dalam kehidupan),

[That] you will surely experience state after state.

20 فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

famaa lahum laa yu/minuuna

Mengapa mereka tidak mau beriman?

So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,

21 وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩

wa-idzaa quri-a 'alayhimu alqur-aanu laa yasjuduuna

dan apabila Al Quran dibacakan kepada mereka, mereka tidak bersujud,

And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?

22 بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ

bali alladziina kafaruu yukadzdzibuuna

bahkan orang-orang kafir itu mendustakan(nya).

But those who have disbelieved deny,

23 وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ

waallaahu a'lamu bimaa yuu'uuna

Padahal Allah mengetahui apa yang mereka sembunyikan (dalam hati mereka).

And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.

24 فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

fabasysyirhum bi'adzaabin aliimin

Maka beri kabar gembiralah mereka dengan azab yang pedih,

So give them tidings of a painful punishment,

25 إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ

illaa alladziina aamanuu wa'amiluu alshshaalihaati lahum ajrun ghayru mamnuunin

tetapi orang-orang yang beriman dan beramal saleh, bagi mereka pahala yang tidak putus-putusnya.

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.
