2 وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ

wa-idzaa alnnujuumu inkadarat

dan apabila bintang-bintang berjatuhan,

And when the stars fall, dispersing,

3 وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ

wa-idzaa aljibaalu suyyirath

dan apabila gunung-gunung dihancurkan,

And when the mountains are removed

4 وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ

wa-idzaa al'isyaaru 'uththhilath

dan apabila unta-unta yang bunting ditinggalkan (tidak diperdulikan)

And when full-term she-camels are neglected

5 وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ

wa-idzaa alwuhuusyu husyirath

dan apabila binatang-binatang liar dikumpulkan,

And when the wild beasts are gathered

6 وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ

wa-idzaa albihaaru sujjirath

dan apabila lautan dijadikan meluap

And when the seas are filled with flame

7 وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ

wa-idzaa alnnufuusu zuwwijat

dan apabila ruh-ruh dipertemukan (dengan tubuh)

And when the souls are paired

8 وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ

wa-idzaa almawuudatu su-ilath

dan apabila bayi-bayi perempuan yang dikubur hidup-hidup ditanya,

And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked

10 وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ

wa-idzaa alshshuhufu nusyirath

dan apabila catatan-catatan (amal perbuatan manusia) dibuka,

And when the pages are made public

11 وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ

wa-idzaa alssamaau kusyithath

dan apabila langit dilenyapkan,

And when the sky is stripped away

12 وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ

wa-idzaa aljahiimu su''irath

dan apabila neraka Jahim dinyalakan,

And when Hellfire is set ablaze

13 وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ

wa-idzaa aljannatu uzlifath

dan apabila surga didekatkan,

And when Paradise is brought near,

14 عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ

'alimat nafsun maa ahdarath

maka tiap-tiap jiwa akan mengetahui apa yang telah dikerjakannya.

A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it].

15 فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ

falaa uqsimu bialkhunnasi

Sungguh, Aku bersumpah dengan bintang-bintang,

So I swear by the retreating stars -

17 وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ

waallayli idzaa 'as'asa

demi malam apabila telah hampir meninggalkan gelapnya,

And by the night as it closes in

18 وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ

waalshshubhi idzaa tanaffasa

dan demi subuh apabila fajarnya mulai menyingsing,

And by the dawn when it breathes

19 إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ

innahu laqawlu rasuulin kariimin

sesungguhnya Al Quran itu benar-benar firman (Allah yang dibawa oleh) utusan yang mulia (Jibril),

[That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger

20 ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ

dzii quwwatin 'inda dzii al'arsyi makiinin

yang mempunyai kekuatan, yang mempunyai kedudukan tinggi di sisi Allah yang mempunyai 'Arsy,

[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],

21 مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ

muthaa'in tsamma amiinin

yang ditaati di sana (di alam malaikat) lagi dipercaya.

Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.

22 وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍ

wamaa shaahibukum bimajnuunin

Dan temanmu (Muhammad) itu bukanlah sekali-kali orang yang gila.

And your companion is not [at all] mad.

23 وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ

walaqad raaahu bialufuqi almubiini

Dan sesungguhnya Muhammad itu melihat Jibril di ufuk yang terang.

And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon.

24 وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ

wamaa huwa 'alaa alghaybi bidhaniinin

Dan dia (Muhammad) bukanlah orang yang bakhil untuk menerangkan yang ghaib.

And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.

25 وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَٰنٍ رَّجِيمٍ

wamaa huwa biqawli syaythaanin rajiimin

Dan Al Quran itu bukanlah perkataan syaitan yang terkutuk,

And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].

27 إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَٰلَمِينَ

in huwa illaa dzikrun lil'aalamiina

Al Quran itu tiada lain hanyalah peringatan bagi semesta alam,

It is not except a reminder to the worlds

28 لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ

liman syaa-a minkum an yastaqiima

(yaitu) bagi siapa di antara kamu yang mau menempuh jalan yang lurus.

For whoever wills among you to take a right course.

29 وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

wamaa tasyaauuna illaa an yasyaa-a allaahu rabbu al'aalamiina

Dan kamu tidak dapat menghendaki (menempuh jalan itu) kecuali apabila dikehendaki Allah, Tuhan semesta alam.

And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds.
